Job Overview
Our client, a well-established organisation with a turnover of approximately £150 million, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates across a range of projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining the highest quality standards. The Estimator will play a key role in project planning, budgeting, and cost control, contributing to the successful delivery of projects and supporting the company’s continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and supporting documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to obtain relevant pricing and technical information.
- Develop detailed budgets and cost breakdowns for each stage of a project.
- Monitor and review costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure budgets are maintained.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of tender submissions and bid proposals.
- Provide insights on material costs, labour requirements, and resource allocation to support project decision-making.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and estimating methodologies.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in calculations and documentation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external suppliers and clients.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing within a collaborative team environment.
- Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline are desirable but not essential.
