Health and Safety Manager (with Site Management Cover)

Our client is a fast-growing construction company with a strong pipeline of projects across the UK. Known for their commitment to quality, safety, and professional development, they’re now looking to expand their team with a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Manager.
The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about health and safety in construction and who is also comfortable stepping in to provide cover for Site Managers when required. The successful candidate will play a vital role in both day-to-day site safety and the strategic development of compliance systems across the business. The role will involve visiting sites around the west Midlands.
Long-term, this role will evolve into a senior compliance position, taking ownership of all health and safety and regulatory matters across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and implement health and safety procedures across construction sites.
- Carry out site inspections and risk assessments, ensuring full compliance with H&S regulations.
- Provide site management cover as needed, ensuring work progresses efficiently and safely.
- Investigate incidents, write reports, and follow up with corrective actions.
- Train and support site teams in health and safety best practices.
- Support and eventually lead on company-wide compliance and accreditation efforts.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes and industry standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- A strong interest and background in construction health and safety.
- Experience in site management within the construction industry.
- A proactive, organised, and hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Willingness to grow with the company and develop into a compliance leadership role.
Required Qualifications:
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification (essential)
- Additional H&S qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH or IOSH) are a bonus but not essential
