Alpha Recruitment are working in partnership with a growing and progressive construction business that specialises in façade remediation, fire safety, and refurbishment projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager / Principal Designer to support the successful delivery of both Higher Risk Buildings (HRB) and non-HRB projects nationwide.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you will play a key role in managing the design process, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping deliver safer, higher-quality projects from concept through to completion.
The Role
You will be responsible for coordinating and managing the design process across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015, the Building Safety Act and current Building Regulations.
Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies, you will help drive projects forward while managing design risks and maintaining the highest standards of compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management
• Lead and coordinate the design process across multiple projects
• Manage design information, programmes, and design review meetings
• Ensure design deliverables are produced accurately and on schedule
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to achieve project objectives
Principal Designer Duties
• Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act
• Identify, manage, and coordinate design risks throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure compliance with statutory duties and regulatory requirements
• Promote safe design principles and best practice across all projects
Building Safety & Compliance
• Support compliance with Building Regulations and Higher Risk Building requirements
• Assist with Gateway submissions and Building Safety Regulator requirements
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities
• Maintain robust design management and compliance systems
Project Delivery
• Support the successful delivery of refurbishment, remediation, and construction projects
• Monitor project progress and address design-related challenges
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business
About You
We are looking for an experienced and organised professional who can confidently manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring projects remain compliant, efficient and commercially focused.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Previous experience within a Design Manager and/or Principal Designer role
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations
• Good understanding of the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations
• Experience within construction, refurbishment, remediation, or façade projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong organisational and coordination abilities
• Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications:
• Relevant construction, design, or technical qualification
• Membership of a recognised professional body
• Experience working on Higher Risk Building projects
• Knowledge of Gateway processes and Building Safety Regulator requirements
