SHEQ Manager

Location: North Yorkshire (with UK-wide project travel)

Alpha Recruitment are working in partnership with a growing and highly respected construction contractor who specialises in façade remediation, fire safety, and refurbishment projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is looking to appoint an experienced SHEQ Manager to support the safe, compliant, and successful delivery of projects nationwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated SHEQ professional who enjoys influencing positive change, driving continuous improvement, and working closely with operational teams to maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior management, you will play a key role in supporting site teams, ensuring legislative compliance and embedding best practice across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality

• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews across multiple projects
• Monitor SHEQ performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Support operational teams in maintaining exceptional safety, environmental and quality standards
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the business

Project Compliance & Support

• Review and support the preparation of RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and project documentation
• Provide guidance on CDM 2015 Regulations, the Building Safety Act and Building Safety Regulator requirements
• Assist project teams with practical SHEQ advice throughout the project lifecycle

Management Systems & Accreditations

• Maintain and develop integrated management systems
• Support external audits and certification processes
• Manage SSIP accreditations, PQQ submissions and client compliance requirements

Investigation, Training & Engagement

• Lead incident investigations and produce detailed reports with corrective actions
• Deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks and workforce engagement initiatives
• Coach and mentor site teams to encourage best practice and continuous improvement

About You

We are looking for a confident, organised, and experienced SHEQ professional who can build strong relationships at all levels and positively influence project performance.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience within a SHEQ Management role
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Qualifications:

• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
• Knowledge of ISO Management Systems
• Experience within construction, refurbishment, remediation, or façade projects
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and Building Safety legislation
